Overview
El Mazag is an Egyptian social drama that strips away the comforts of privilege and deposits a wealthy woman directly into prison life. Gamila runs a ready-to-wear fashion company and enjoys a life of means — until a manslaughter conviction earns her a year behind bars. The world she enters could not be more foreign: the prison is dominated by Arwah, a ruthless inmate who has turned the facility into a drug operation and demands total submission from everyone around her. Gamila refuses to bend. When she alerts her sister to what is happening, she ignites a fierce power struggle with Arwah, who is not accustomed to being defied. A tense drama about class collision, female resilience, and survival in a world governed by entirely different rules.
