Why we started AMDB
A century of Egyptian cinema. Fifty years of Levantine drama. Two decades of modern Khaleeji television. And still — the only way to discover an Arab title online is an English-language search engine built for the American market.
AMDB exists to ask one simple question: what does a movie database look like if its audience isn’t Hollywood? What does it look like if Abou El Aroussa, El Kabeer Awy, and Al Hayba are tentpole works, not footnotes?
This isn’t a closed product. The code is open, the data is exportable, and the recommendation logic is transparent. Spot an error — tell us. Notice a missing title — tell us. It’s a community project as much as a personal one.
