The Gypsies is an Arabic social drama set on the margins of urban life, following a gypsy tribe led by a feared figure known as the Hyena. The tribe survives through robbery and kidnapping, and its laws are absolute. At the centre of the story is Badara, a young woman desperate to break free from her community's grip and escape a forced marriage to her cousin Riad Massad. The film examines the brutal tension between tribal loyalty and individual will, offering a portrait of a subculture rarely seen on screen.
