The Empress, is a 1999 Egyptian movie, directed by Ali Abdel-Khalek, and starring Nadia Al Gendy, Ahmad Bedir, Mohammad Reyad. with a runtime of 125 minutes.
The Empress (Al-Imbratura) is an Egyptian crime drama following Zanouba, a poor maid seduced and abandoned by Ahmed, the privileged son of her employer. Broken by his betrayal, Zanouba returns to her neighborhood and makes a fateful decision: to pull herself and her brothers Salem and Zinhom out of poverty through drug trafficking. The cruel irony deepens when Ahmed, her deceiver, becomes a police officer assigned to combat exactly the trade she has entered. The film is a tense and emotionally charged portrait of class, betrayal, and the cycle of crime, driven by the collision between two lives bound together by their shared past.
