Born: August 15, 1925June 5, 2006Birthplace: Tanta, EgyptNationality: Egypt72 credits

An Egyptian actress and singer, born in one of the villages surrounding the city of Tanta to a conservative feudal family. Her name is (Bahija Abdel Salam Abdel-Al Al-Haw), and she is the sister of the artist (Mohamed Fawzi) and the third of five siblings. She has shown a talent for singing since childhood. Her brother, the artist (Mohamed Fawzi), had gone against his family's wishes and came to Cairo to work in art and remained at odds with his father, who did not acknowledge what he had done until he achieved great success. The success of Mohamed Fawzi encouraged his two sisters to work in art, and Hoda Sultan came to Cairo after the death of her father. She faced some trouble from her brother at first just because she became a professional in art, but he was convinced of her talent after that and even produced a movie for her. After she came, she was adopted by the radio and became a singer. Then she was discovered by cinema at the hands of producer Gabriel Telhami in the movie “Sitt El Hassan,” in which she succeeded - and in which she also changed. She was given the artistic name (Hoda Sultan) for the first time - and her success earned her the lead role in her second film, which was (The Rule of the Strong) in 1951. She met (Farid Shawqi) for the first time in the film (Sitt El Hassan) and married him immediately after that for the longest period of her life, which was eighteen years. Together they formed a successful artistic duo, as they worked together on more than twenty cinematic films, which achieved great success, until Farid Shawqi was given the title (King of Tarso) due to his popularity among the popular class in Egypt. But they separated in 1969 after Farid Shawqi returned from Lebanon, following strong rumors about his relationships with women there. Then, the quality of her roles changed starting in the seventies, and she reduced the dose of temptation due to age and the age of her daughters. During her career, she shined as a singer and performed many songs. She performed more than 70 films in cinema, and presented many works in theater and television, including well-known and famous works. She received many cinematic and television awards, including being honored at the Feature Film Festival in 1998, honoring her at the Arab Music Festival, and honoring her for her role in the series (Al-Watad) at the Cairo Radio and Television Festival. She married five times in her life, the first time to an ordinary man named (Mohamed Naguib) and she gave birth to her daughter (Nabila), the second time to the producer (Fouad Al-Jazairli), and the divorce occurred both times due to jealousy over her. The third time was from (Fouad Al-Atrash), the brother of the artist (Farid Al-Atrash), and the fourth time was from (Farid Shawqi), from whom she gave birth to their two daughters (Maha) and (Nahed). The fifth and last time was after her separation from Farid Shawqi, directly from the director (Hassan Abdel Salam), and it did not last long. In 2003, she appeared for the last time as a guest star in the movie (From the View of an Eye) and died in 2006 at her home after leaving (Dar Al Fouad) Hospital two weeks after a struggle with lung cancer.
