Al-Mohtal, is a 1954 Egyptian movie, directed by Helmy Rafla, and starring Huda Sultan, Farid Shawqy, Mary Moneib. with a runtime of 105 minutes.
Al-Mohtal (The Swindler) is an Egyptian comedy film following Barai, an opportunist who hits upon a brazen money-making scheme: throwing himself in front of moving cars and then extorting the rattled drivers who appear to have struck him. Barai quickly decides this improvised hustle beats any honest job he has tried. The scheme reaches a new level of danger when he targets the car of a prominent company director — and then stumbles onto an even juicier secret: the man is cheating on his wife. Armed with this information, Barai layers blackmail upon blackmail, setting in motion a comic escalation he may not be clever enough to control. The film is a fast-moving farce about greed, leverage, and the inevitable moment when a con runs out of road.
