Overview
The Beasts is an Egyptian drama that peels back the veneer of ordinary life to expose the darkness lurking within human nature. Set in Abu Qir, the film follows Sodfa, a woman trapped in a loveless marriage to Sayed, her dim-witted cousin, under his mother's roof. When Mahmoud — her former lover — returns after completing his studies and takes charge of the family brick factory, their old passion reignites. Mahmoud declares his love and Sodfa demands marriage after divorcing Sayed. But Sayed has been listening to everything, and a violent confrontation erupts — one that Sodfa herself encourages to turn lethal. A tense character study in which jealousy, desire, and resentment conspire to release the beast within.
