Qanun Ika is an Egyptian drama film set against the repressive backdrop of 1968, when the university professor Hussein and his wife Mona are arrested for their beliefs. Mona does not survive the ordeal, dying in prison as a result of brutal torture, while Hussein is eventually released — physically free but spiritually broken. Refusing to return to his former academic life, he drifts without direction until an unexpected encounter with the dancer Eka opens a radically different path for him. The film is a courageous examination of political repression and its devastating human cost, tracing one man's painful journey through loss and disillusionment as he searches for a new sense of self in the ruins of the life he once knew.
