An Egyptian actor and former journalist, he was born in a village called (Nousa al-Bahr) affiliated with the (Aga) Center in Dakahlia Governorate. He graduated from the Faculty of Law in 1958, and he did not think that he would work in art. He went to work in Al-Ahram newspaper, and the artist worked in the artistic department, then he rose until he became head of the artistic department in the newspaper, from which he headed the artistic department in (Al-Ahram Al-Massaei) newspaper. During his work in this newspaper, his meetings and dialogues with actors and directors were numerous, and that was the beginning of his joining. By acting. The beginning of his artistic career was on stage, and his first plays were “Al-Qarar” and “Magnetic Mountain” at the Vanguard Theater in 1973. During that period, he also acted in several television productions. His first cinematic participation after waiting was in 1974 in the film (The Temptress and the Tramp) at the age of thirty-five. After that, his cinematic, dramatic and theatrical works continued, and he presented more than 124 works during his artistic career, the most important of which are: the film (The Sinners) in 1975, the important film (We Are on the Bus), for which he won an award of appreciation from the (Film Society), (My Always Beloved) in 1980, (An Egyptian Story) directed by (Youssef Chahine), (A Husband on Call), (One Woman Is Not Enough) and others. During his career, he participated in several roles, the common denominator of which was the character of the elegant man.
In the field of television drama, his most prominent television work is his participation in the series (Al-Fursan) in the role of (Ezz Al-Din Aybak). In addition to him, he acted in several series, including: (The Fox), (Rad Al-Qalbi), (Shams Al-Ansari), (Children of the Night) and others. He won the award (Best Actor in a Second Role) for the movie (Days of Rage), and he also received the State Medal, First Class for Arts, in 1996. He is married and his son is the actor (Ahmed Abdel Ghani).
