Egyptian actress, born in the Maghrebline neighborhood in Cairo in 1906.
Her parents died when she was young, so Sheikh Ali Youssef, founder of Al-Muayyad newspaper, took care of her upbringing. She was enrolled in an English school in the Al-Halmiyya neighborhood, where she learned reading, writing, and housekeeping. She presented her first theatrical work ever in 1927, which was the play (Ihsan Bey) with the Awlad Okasha theater troupe, of which she became one of its members. She also worked with the troupes of Ismail Yassin, Abdel Aziz Khalil, Ramses, and Fatima Rushdi. She began working in cinema in the mid-thirties, and throughout her artistic career, she was known for performing the role of mother in various variations until she was called (the mother of Egyptian cinema). Among her films: (Bayaaa). Apples, The Ambassador of Hell, Cotton Candy, The Lady on the Train, Struggle in the Harbor).
At the end of her life, she suffered from cancer, and her symptoms increased until she fell into a complete coma and died in 1961 at the age of 55.
