Ibn el harra, is a 1953 Egyptian movie, directed by Ezz Eldin Zulficar, and starring Galal Harb, Laila Fawzy, Farid Shawqy. with a runtime of 120 minutes.
Ibn El-Harra (Son of the Neighbourhood) is an Egyptian drama film that examines how class barriers and social anxiety can leave love vulnerable to exploitation. Jalal is a successful engineer quietly in love with his neighbour Laila, granddaughter of a pasha, but he keeps his feelings hidden for fear of the social gulf between them. Laila's affairs are controlled by her gambling uncle who slowly bleeds her wealth, while her reckless cousin schemes to marry her and claim her inheritance. When the cousin discovers Jalal's secret love, he weaponises it — engineering an elaborate deception that drains both Jalal and Laila of their money while keeping them apart. The film is a sharp-edged study of how hesitation and class shame create the perfect conditions for predatory opportunism.
