Storm over the Countryside is an Egyptian comedy-drama following Dr. Ashraf, a health inspector assigned to a remote village where he quickly becomes a thorn in the side of the local barber, mayor, and herbalist — all of whom profit from the villagers' ignorance and superstition. Ashraf's efforts to bring real medicine to the community meet fierce resistance from those who see him as a threat to their influence. When the plague strikes the village, the conflict reaches its peak, pitting science against quackery in a high-stakes showdown. A sharp social satire rooted in rural Egyptian life.
