Ibn Al-Haddad is an Egyptian social drama that chronicles the rise of Taha, the son of a humble laborer whose father's dedication to his upbringing enables him to become an engineer and factory owner. Taha seals his ascent by marrying into an aristocratic family — the daughter of a pasha — only to discover that beneath the social prestige lies a woman of profound recklessness, indifferent to her husband, her son, and any responsibility beyond personal pleasure. When financial ruin strips away everything Taha has built, the family is forced to relocate to a working-class neighborhood, stripping away all pretense and revealing the true character of those he thought he knew.
