Overview

Satrak Ya Rab is an Egyptian social comedy-drama that dissects the contradictions of an incorruptible bureaucrat whose rigid principles exact a steep toll on his own family. Kamal, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Production Affairs, is renowned for his uncompromising integrity — so much so that he refuses to pull strings even for his own son Ahmed, leaving the young man to earn his living as a driver for the powerful businessman Hassan Al-Abd. When Hassan's daughter Sherine falls for Ahmed and Hassan agrees to the match, the arrangement carries an undercurrent of calculation: what does the tycoon hope to gain from a father-in-law who happens to hold a senior government post? The series balances warmth and satire in its portrait of a man whose virtues create as many problems as they solve.
