Araess fil mazad, is a 1955 Egyptian movie, directed by Hasan El-Saifi, and starring Kariman, Shoukry Sarhan, Mahmoud El Meligy. with a runtime of 110 minutes.
Arayes Fil Mazad (Brides at Auction) is an Egyptian social drama that confronts the consequences of treating daughters as commodities in the marriage market. A father, convinced that wealth equals happiness, resolves to marry his three daughters off to rich men regardless of their own feelings. The results are devastating in their variety: the eldest daughter runs away to be with the poor young man she truly loves, the second spirals into moral ruin and ends up committed to a psychiatric facility, while the third forges her own path and finds love with a fellow engineer at her workplace. A sharp critique of patriarchal control and the very different fates that await women denied the right to choose.
