Overview

Shakawet Regala is an Egyptian romantic comedy film built around a charming class-difference premise. Ahmed, a wealthy young man, falls deeply in love with Farida without knowing she is poor. Embarrassed by the gap in their social standing, Farida keeps up a pretense of wealth, claiming to come from a prominent family. When Ahmed inevitably learns the truth, rather than withdrawing he doubles down on his commitment and devises an elaborate plan — hiring a group of extras to impersonate Farida's fictitious wealthy relatives and present them to his family. The film celebrates love that transcends social barriers, wrapping its romantic core in a series of delightfully comic situations. Shakawet Regala is a crowd-pleasing Egyptian comedy with a warm heart and a witty premise.
