April Fool is an Egyptian comedy film about Ismail, a scheming husband who concocts an elaborate lie to get his hands on his Turkish wife's money. He invents a story about children from a previous marriage who need financial support, banking on his wife's sympathetic nature. What begins as a simple deception quickly snowballs into an uncontrollable chain of lies, as Ismail is forced to fabricate ever-larger falsehoods to cover the ones before. Ironically, his wife continues to respond with genuine good faith at every turn. A sharp and funny comedy of errors that shows how one small lie can spiral into an inescapable labyrinth of its own making.
