Hob Fauq al-Burkan is an Egyptian drama film in which passion, crime, and tragic coincidence collide with devastating results. Ahmed and Nawal's half-brother Hussein steals money to lavish on a dancer named Dusa. To bail him out, Nawal pawns her jewelry with a moneylender named Umm Jaber. Ahmed goes to reclaim the jewelry, only to arrive moments after Hussein murders Umm Jaber — and flees the scene in panic. Nima witnesses Ahmed running away and assumes he is the killer. Chasing after him, she falls and loses her sight. Wracked with guilt, Ahmed marries her. A story of compounding misfortune in which one reckless act sets off a chain of irreversible consequences.
