Child for Rent (Ibn lil Ijar) is a classic Egyptian comedy film in which Zaatar, a gifted actor working in a small theatrical troupe, is enlisted by his director Jawhar to impersonate the long-lost son of the wealthy Nagati Pasha, missing for twenty years. Zaatar slides comfortably into a life of luxury with the Pasha's family — until he discovers that the fiancé of the Pasha's daughter Hiam is embezzling the family fortune. As guilt mounts and the deception deepens, the film builds to a comedic and morally charged climax.
