A Tale from the Arabian Nights is an Egyptian fantasy drama film drawing on the spirit of ancient Eastern folklore. Hassan Al-Shahat, a traveling showman, leaves his wife Shahira and their son Shahtout behind for extended periods while performing his magic acts at religious festivals. His absences open the door to a forbidden affair between Shahira and a supernatural lover from the world of the jinn. When young Shahtout stumbles upon the secret, he pays a fatal price. Shahira and her lover flee into the desert, where she gives birth to a child she abandons with half of a mysterious amulet — setting the stage for a tale of fate, magic, and consequences that echo across generations.
