
His artistic career extended for about half a century. His name is (Mohamed Al-Saghir Ahmed Al-Dafrawi) and he was born in (Desouk) in (Kafr El-Sheikh) Governorate. He studied at the Faculty of Arts, Cairo University, then obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Dramatic Arts in 1955. The artist (Mohamed Al-Dafrawi) began his artistic career in a group of small roles in the fifties. He appeared in a film entitled (Samara Sinai) and the film (God is Great), then he participated in a film entitled (Love and Pleasure), and at the beginning of the sixties he participated in the series (The Pursuit) in the role of an officer. He appeared in the film (In Our House is a Man) starring (Omar Sharif), and in the film (Three Stories), in the seventies. Among the most important films he participated in were “Sunset and Sunrise” with (Rushdy Abaza) and (Salah Zulfiqar), and (Cairo and the People) with (Nour El Sherif). He played the role of (Abu Jahl) in the religious series (On the Sidelines of the Biography) and in the series (Al-Ayyam) about the life story of (Taha Hussein), starring (Ahmed Zaki). In the eighties, he played the role of the head of Egyptian intelligence in the series (Tears in Shameless Eyes) in the beginning of his recurring participation with the great artist (Adel Imam). He also played the same role in the series (Raafat Al-Hagan), and several roles in religious series, and he participated in the role of (The King) in the movie (Peace, my friend). At the beginning of the nineties, he participated in the series (Al-Wasiya), (One Thousand and One Nights), (Falcon Eyes) with (Nour Al-Sharif) and in the role of (Chief of Staff of the Naval Forces) in the movie (The Road to Eilat). Also among the important roles he played was his role in the movie (The Terrorist) as the writer (Fouad Masoud), the head of the family to which the character of the work’s hero (Adel Imam) flees. He also participated in the historical series (The Heroes), (The Republic of Zefta), (Hassan Al-Loul) with (Ahmed Zaki), (A Message to the Governor) and (Al-Wad Mahrous Btaa Al-Wazir) with (Adel Imam). At the beginning of the millennium, one of the most important things he performed was his voice performance of the character of the King of Atlantis in the Arabic version of the American animated film (Atlantis: The Lost Continent), (What is he in?) with (Mohamed Fouad), (The Danish Experience) with (Adel Imam), and the role of the father of (Sheikh Al-Shaarawi) in the series (Imam Al-Preachers). He also participated in: (The Pasha’s Student) with (Karim Abdel Aziz), and in the film that brought together a large number of stars (Architecture). Yacoubian) in 2006. The last work he participated in was the series (Last Summer) in 2010. In the theater. He also presented a large number of plays, especially at the Egyptian National Theater. He also served as agent of the Actors Guild for many years. His artistic career was distinguished by his extensive participation in religious works, which had the lion’s share among his works. In his last days, he suffered from serious liver problems, and after a long journey, he died in 2011 at the age of eighty-two, and his funeral was held at the Sayyida Nafisa Mosque in Cairo.
