Mahmoud Shoukoko

An Egyptian actor and monologist, he was born in the Al-Darb Al-Ahmar area in Cairo in 1912. He worked with his father since childhood in a carpentry workshop, which prevented him from going to school. Shokoko loved singing and comedy since childhood, which qualified him to join the Ali Al-Kassar troupe, where he participated in plays with his songs and monologues. He also later formed a performance troupe with Soraya Helmy and Souad Makkawi. Shokoko began entering the field of cinema after he was discovered by director Niazi Mustafa, who presented him in the films (Hassan and Hassan) and (Muhammad Ali Street). After that, he continued his cinematic appearances in many films, the most famous of which are: (My Love Shabbak, Al-Usta Hassan, The Bread Seller, Amber, Eid Night, and Samson and Pulp). Shukoko continued his artistic work in the field of singing and monologue until his death in 1985 at the age of 73 years.
