Amal is an Egyptian drama that spans generations, beginning with the forbidden marriage of Hussein to the dancer Suhair against his family's wishes. When Hussein is struck by a car while rushing to share the news of his daughter Amal's birth, he makes a dying plea to his uncle to look after the child. The uncle, however, proves less a protector than an opportunist, becoming trustee of the estate and coveting its wealth. The film then follows Amal as she grows up in the shadow of a loss she never fully understood, navigating a world shaped by the greed and deceptions of those who were meant to care for her.
