Zohrah, is a 1947 Egyptian movie, directed by Hussein Fawzi and Kamal Abul Ela, and starring Bahiga Hafez, Kamal Hussein, Thuraya Fakhry. with a runtime of 90 minutes.
"Zohrah" (Zohrat Al-Souq) is an Egyptian classic drama charged with class conflict and romantic ambition. Khurshid, a man of modest means, falls in love with Bahigha, the daughter of the powerful and aristocratic Arfy Pasha. The Pasha flatly refuses any possibility of marriage between them, citing the stark difference in their social standing. Rather than accepting defeat, Khurshid devises a cunning scheme to engineer a financial crisis for the Pasha, one that proves so devastating it triggers a severe heart attack. The film is a compelling exploration of social stratification, the cruelties of class prejudice, and the morally ambiguous lengths to which love and wounded pride can drive a man.
