An Egyptian actress, director, writer, and musician, she was born in the Moharam Bey neighborhood in Alexandria in 1908. Her father was Ismail Muhammad Hafez, the supervisor of the royal palace during the reign of Sultan Hassan Kamel, and her cousin was Ismail Sedqi, who assumed the position of Prime Minister of Egypt. She married an Iranian prince in 1925, then they separated, and she returned to Alexandria, then her father died, so she moved to live in Cairo. In 1930, she obtained a diploma in music composition from the Paris Conservatoire, and composed the soundtracks for a number of films in which she participated, including: (The Victims, The Accusation, Laila Daughter of the Desert, Laila Al-Badawi, Salwa, Zahrat Al-Souq, Al-Sayyid Al-Badawi). She was also good at playing the piano and participated in a number of performances. With him, she founded the first union for musical professions in 1937.
In cinema, she participated in starring in a few films, including: (Zeinab, The Victims, The Accusation, Laila Bint Al-Sahra, and Zahrat Al-Souq). She also participated in directing the film (The Victims) and directed the film (Laila Bint Al-Sahara), for which she also participated in writing the script.
