An Egyptian director, born in 1904, he obtained a diploma from the School of Fine Arts from the Italian capital, Rome, then continued his studies in the French capital, Paris. Then he returned to Egypt and worked in the fields of journalism, propaganda and advertising. Hussein Fawzi began his cinematic career by acting in the films (Laila, Shajarat al-Durr), then he participated in establishing the Youth Film Company, and years later he launched his own production company, through which he presented many films that he directed and produced himself, and among the most famous films he directed were: (I Love Mistakes, Bulbul Effendi, My Country and Lightness, Circus Girl, Tamr Henna). He died in 1962 at the age of 58 years. He directed his first film in 1939, “The Apple Seller.” He directed the first Egyptian full-color film (Baba Aris) in 1950. He married the artist (Naima Akef) and monopolized her work between supervision and directing, and a separation occurred between them because he opposed her having children because he was the father of children from his first wife. His last marriage was to the artist (Laila Taher), and their marital relationship lasted for three years before they divorced in 1962, the same year of his death.
