Overview

Al-Sarab is an Egyptian psychological drama film exploring the troubled marriage of the wealthy Kamel and his wife Rabab, who discovers after the wedding that her husband is sexually incapacitated. Kamel turns to Dr. Amin for help, and the doctor gradually uncovers that the root of the problem lies in Kamel's psychology rather than his physiology — a shy, introverted young man who grew up enmeshed with a dominant mother following his parents' separation, leaving him with deep emotional blocks he cannot overcome despite repeated attempts. The film tackles sexual health and psychological trauma with unusual candour for Arabic drama, approaching its subject with empathy and clinical insight rather than judgment.
