Our Green Land is an Egyptian social drama set in the rural Egyptian countryside. A simple peasant lives happily with his wife and young child on land belonging to a powerful feudal lord, who schemes to seize the three acres the peasant owns outright. When the landlord becomes infatuated with the peasant's young wife, he devises a cunning plan: he rents the peasant ten more acres at an almost negligible price and dispatches him to Cairo on false pretenses, leaving the wife vulnerable. The film is a searing portrait of exploitation, greed, and the abuse of power in Egypt's agrarian class system.
