The Stranger is a classic Egyptian drama about an orphan boy taken off the streets and raised within a prosperous family. Hajj Kamel offers the destitute child Ghareeb a home alongside his own children, but the real son Mahrez grows up harboring an unexplained hostility toward the boy. Meanwhile, the family's younger daughter Yasmine develops genuine affection for Ghareeb. When Hajj Kamel dies and leaves Ghareeb in charge of his affairs, the household's tensions come to a head — further complicated by the arrival of the wealthy young Anwar, who sets his sights on Yasmine.
