The Thief and the Dogs, is a 1962 Egyptian movie, directed by Kamal El Sheikh, and starring Shoukry Sarhan, Shadia, Kamal Al-Shenawy. with a runtime of 130 minutes.
This film, inspired by Naguib Mahfouz' The thief and the dogs, tells the story of Mahran, a thief who quickly ascends to be the head of his gang. However, his second in command conspires against Mahran to take his position and his wife. After his prison term, Mahran is thirsty for revenge. But being chased by the police and by his new enemies destines him to a tragic life in hiding.
Chased by the Dogs or The Thief and the Dogs is a 1962 Egyptian film directed by Kamal El Sheikh, based on the 1961 novel The Thief and the Dogs by Naguib Mahfouz. It was entered into the 13th Berlin International Film Festival. The film was also selected as the Egyptian entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 35th Academy Awards, but was not accepted as a nominee.
