We Are the Bus People, is a 1979 Egyptian movie, directed by Hussein Kamal, and starring Adel Emam, Abdel Moneim Madbouly, Younes Shalaby. with a runtime of 135 minutes.
We Are the Bus People is a classic Egyptian comedy film set in the period before the 1967 defeat, starring Adel Imam and Abdel Moneim Madbouly as two ordinary neighbours caught up in an absurd chain of events. A petty argument with a bus conductor lands them at the local police station, where their bad luck compounds dramatically — the holding cells happen to be full of political dissidents arrested that same day. Mistaken for suspects, the two hapless friends are swept up with the political prisoners and transferred to a detention camp. What unfolds is a sharp social comedy that uses its ordinary protagonists to satirise the machinery of authoritarianism, transforming a mundane bus dispute into a darkly funny encounter with the state.
