The Stoners is an Egyptian crime drama that weaves together the stories of a group of marginalized characters, each carrying their own burden. Nadia loves Samir, who refuses to marry her because of her poverty; Ahmed struggles with impotence; Talaat lives on the edges of society; and Abbas, unemployed and desperate, marries a wealthy café owner. What unites all of them is a dark shared secret — the murder of a mutual friend. The film builds its tension through character rather than action, layering social critique with the mechanics of a crime story as the truth behind their friend's death threatens to surface.
