
Egyptian journalist and author, born in Damietta on July 11, 1913. He joined the Faculty of Engineering at Fouad I University and did not stay away from journalism. He worked for Kawkab Al-Sharq newspaper as a sports editor since 1929. In 1937, he became famous because he was the only journalist who accompanied the Egyptian negotiating delegation to London. He was a student at the Faculty of Engineering, where he graduated from the Department of Architecture in 1939. In 1940, he worked for Al-Masry newspaper and joined the Wafd Party. In 1942, he was elected as a member of the House of Representatives. When Makram Ebeid resigned from the Ministry of the Wafd in July 1942, Al-Hamasy joined him and became an opponent of the Wafd. He was a writer with a free opinion, so he was put in prison and remained there until July 1944. In prison, he established close relations and friendship with Sadat, his cellmate, Ali Maher Pasha, and Sheikh Ahmed Hassan Al-Baqouri. After his release, Al-Hamasy became editor-in-chief of Al-Katala newspaper, which was published by Makram Ebeid. In 1948, he took over as editor-in-chief of “Al-Zaman” newspaper. In 1950, Jalal Al-Hamasy moved to work in Akhbar Al-Youm with Mustafa Amin and Ali Amin as editor. He then founded the daily Al-Akhbar newspaper with them and assumed the editorship in 1952. Gamal Abdel Nasser chose him as press advisor to the Egyptian embassy in the United States of America in April 1953. When he returned from America in 1954, he was appointed to Al-Gomhouria newspaper, but he disagreed with Salah. Salem, the editor-in-chief, left her. During his 75-year career, Jalal al-Din Kamel al-Hamamsi presented many political and journalistic books and publications, including “Our Journalism between Yesterday and Today,” “Dialogue Behind the Walls,” and “The Battle for the Integrity of Governance.” He passed away on January 20, 1988
