Al-Isti'bad (The Enslavement) is a Moroccan historical drama set in 1924 during the colonial occupation of Morocco. The film follows General Conrado, an occupying officer who becomes infatuated with Samira, the wife of Qasim — a dedicated resistance fighter battling against foreign rule. When the general engineers a visit to Samira's home, the personal and the political collide violently: Qasim, forced to hide in his wife's room, confronts the general who has intruded upon both his home and his country. The tension between colonial desire and national resistance drives the narrative to a dramatic clash, making the film a vivid portrait of occupation-era Morocco and the human cost of fighting for freedom.
