Wedad, The Belly Dancer is an Egyptian social drama set in Naja Hammadi, following Wedad, a dancer who works at her aunt's café. When the corrupt and feared Prince Yusuf arrives at his nearby palace, he summons Wedad to perform at a private gathering and then attempts to assault her. She escapes and resolves to seek justice with the help of Officer Hassan, whose determination to bring the prince to account draws him and Wedad into a deepening bond that places both of them in danger. The film frames Wedad's story as one of defiance and survival, pitting a woman with no social power against a man who believes he answers to no one, and exploring what justice costs in a world where authority and corruption walk hand in hand.
