A director and screenwriter, he began his artistic career at a young age, where he stood opposite the late Nightingale Abdel Halim Hafez as an actor in the films Love Story and Girls and Summer. He studied cinema and obtained a bachelor’s degree from the Higher Institute of Cinema in 1968, directing division, and worked as an assistant director with directors Helmy Halim, Ashraf Fahmy, Hussein Kamal, and Mohamed Abdel Aziz. Director Ahmed Yahya is considered one of the most important directors of his generation, and critics described him as the successor to the late director Ezz El-Dim. Al-Faqar and director Ahmed Yahya won many awards, and Rushdi Abaza and Farid Shawqi considered him their favorite director. Director Ahmed Yahya is considered one of the directors who were interested in transforming Arab and international literary texts into films.
