Rawaat El Hob is an Egyptian romantic drama in which a young woman, enchanted by the writings of a celebrated author, marries him believing she has found the man behind the words. Disillusionment arrives quickly as his true character, nothing like what his books portray, is laid bare. Choosing herself over a hollow marriage, she flees and meets an attractive young man in the working-class district of Al-Maadi, and the two fall in love and agree to marry. The film is a gentle romance that contrasts literary idealism with the messy reality of real relationships.
