Hayat Khatra is an Egyptian spy thriller set in the coastal town of Marsa Matrouh, where a network of foreign agents is orchestrating a series of sabotage operations in collaboration with a Bedouin tribal chief whose wife — a dancer with ties to the gang — handles the drug smuggling side of their enterprise. Security forces devise an elaborate undercover operation: an officer poses as a prisoner, befriends a jailed tribesman, and the two stage an escape to infiltrate the sheikh's inner circle. The film delivers Cold War-era intrigue with a distinctly Egyptian setting.
