Society's Enemy is an Arabic social drama that chronicles the tragic downfall of Baghdadi, an honest and hardworking man employed in a blacksmithing factory owned by Master Mabrouk. When he refuses to pay kickbacks to the factory foreman, he is unjustly fired, plunging him and his family into dire poverty. With a wife and daughter to support and no income in sight, Baghdadi is pushed to the breaking point and resorts to theft — a desperate act that sets off a chain of events culminating in murder. The film is a searing examination of social injustice, asking how a good man is transformed by a system that offers the vulnerable no recourse, no dignity, and no way out.
