Zalamt Rohy (I Wronged My Own Soul) is an Egyptian social drama tracing the moral descent of Afaf, a young woman consumed by greed and envy and driven deeper into wrongdoing by her manipulative lover Hamid. Betraying her own father — a trusted cashier working for the notable Adham — she steals from his care, and the broken-hearted father dies cursing her name. Her brother Mohsen, who later joins Adham's employ, attempts to steer her back to the right path, but Afaf rebels. Exploiting the goodness of Adham's daughter Horyia and manoeuvring her way into Adham's household as his wife, she proceeds to mistreat the girl and scheme against her. A morally layered melodrama about the corrosive effects of envy and greed on the soul.
