Overview
Sunset is an Egyptian social drama film centred on Nadia, a young woman driven into prostitution by her own family as a means of income. When two young men accidentally strike her with their car, the encounter becomes a turning point — on learning how she lives, the two make a reckless wager on which of them can succeed in convincing her to leave that life behind. Nadia is thus caught between her bleak reality and the sudden, unlikely attention of two men whose motives are as much about their bet as about her wellbeing. The film uses this uncomfortable premise to examine social indifference, exploitation, and the slim chances of escape for women trapped in cycles of poverty and coercion.
