Lola Sedki

An Egyptian actress, born in Cairo in 1923, and educated in French schools. She worked at the beginning of her life as a dancer and singer singing in English and French. Her father, the playwright Amin Sedqi, helped her work in the theatre. Her sister, the artist Safia Sedqi, also helped her start her film career through the film (Life of Darkness) in 1940 in a small role. She worked extensively in cinema from that time until the mid-sixties. Her well-known films include: (Abu Halmous, The Little Millionaire, Fatima, Marika and Rachel, Professor Fatima, My Marty’s Groom). After a period of work in Egyptian cinema, she traveled to Italy and played small roles in some American and Italian films. She died in 2001 at the age of 78.
