Zeinab, is a 1952 Egyptian movie, directed by Mohammed Karim, and starring Raqya Ibrahim, Yehia Chahine, Farid Shawqy. with a runtime of 120 minutes.
Zeinab is an Egyptian drama film adapted from Mohamed Hussein Heikal's landmark novel, set in rural Egypt at the dawn of the twentieth century. The film tenderly traces the doomed love between Zeinab, a peasant girl, and Ibrahim al-Khouli, a laborer on the Pasha's estate. Her father's ambitions lead him to marry her off to the wealthy Hassan against her will, and when Ibrahim is conscripted into military service he departs, leaving Zeinab to waste away from tuberculosis — a disease her new family refuses to treat. Ibrahim's eventual return finds her heartbreakingly diminished, sealing one of Arabic literature's most poignant tragic romances.
