
Egyptian journalist, politician, and writer. Muhammad Hussein Heikal was born on August 20, 1888 in the village of Kafr Ghannam, Mansoura, Dakahlia, Arab Republic of Egypt. He studied law and obtained a bachelor's degree in 1909 from the Khedive Law School. Muhammad Hussein Heikal obtained a doctorate in law from the Sorbonne University in Paris in 1912. While studying in France, he wrote his first novel (Zeinab) and the novel was published in 1913. After his return to Egypt, he worked as a lawyer for 10 years, and was then chosen to be editor-in-chief of the newspaper (Al-Seyassah). He was in contact with Ahmed Lutfi Al-Sayyid and was greatly influenced by him, in addition to being influenced by the ideas of Sheikh Muhammad Abda. He played a major role in drafting the 1923 Constitution, as he was a member of the Committee of Thirty that drafted the Constitution. In 1937, he was appointed to be the Minister of Education in the second government of Muhammad Mahmoud Pasha, but the government soon submitted its resignation, but Muhammad Hussein Heikal returned again in 1940, where he took over the Ministry of Education again, and in 1954 he took over the Ministry of the Ministry of Social Affairs. Regarding international roles, he represented Egypt on many occasions at the United Nations and died on December 8, 1956.
