Birds of Darkness is an Egyptian drama series that traces the diverging paths of three lawyers whose friendship at university gives way to sharply contrasting life choices. Fathi Nofal reinvents himself as a social climber, abandoning his ethical principles to ascend through the political system until he becomes director of Minister Rushdi's office. His former colleague Ali Al-Zanati finds a different kind of leverage by aligning himself with religious extremist groups, profiting from defending those who find themselves on the wrong side of the law. The third, Mohsen, opts for anonymity — living a quiet, ordinary life far removed from the power struggles defining his former friends' worlds. A rich and nuanced exploration of how ambition, ideology, and self-interest can pull people apart and remake them entirely.
