Youth in a Storm is an Egyptian romantic social drama following Samira, a conscientious young woman from a modest family who works hard to support her retired father and siblings. At the office she wins the respect of her bosses and colleagues, and a genuine, innocent affection develops between her and her coworker Medhat, who hopes their relationship will eventually lead to marriage. But whispers begin to circulate — rumours with no foundation that snowball into a reputational crisis threatening to destroy everything Samira has built. The film is a compassionate but unsparing portrait of how gossip and social judgment bear down hardest on women, and of a love tested by forces beyond either person's control.
