Mufattish El Mabahess, is a 1959 Egyptian movie, directed by Hussein Fawzi, and starring Youssef Wahby, Sherifa Fadel. Rushdy Abaza.
Mufattish El Mabahess is an Egyptian comedy of errors built around guilt, panic, and a spectacular misunderstanding. A young man carrying on an affair with a dancer is interrupted by her armed husband; in the ensuing struggle a shot is fired and the husband is hit, sending the young man fleeing in the belief he has committed murder. When he notices a detective on the street, he assumes he's being followed and eventually confesses everything in elaborate detail — only to learn the bewildered inspector knew nothing about the incident and was simply on his way to his sister's wedding. The film is a sharp comic fable about the weight of a guilty conscience.
