Bassem Al Hob is an Egyptian romantic drama in which misunderstanding and greed ensnare two families. Laila moves with her ailing mother into a building owned by Abdel Ghaffar, a wealthy widower, and his son Ahmed, who promptly falls in love with her. The father, however, misreads her presence and becomes convinced she harbours feelings for him — prompting him to propose before his son can act. Laila's opportunistic brother readily approves the match, his eyes firmly fixed on the older man's fortune. When Ahmed discovers what is happening, his heartbreak sets off a chain of dramatic confrontations that pit genuine love against calculated self-interest, testing loyalties at every turn.
