Schoolgirl's Notes is an Egyptian social drama that follows Nadia, a young girl whose romantic daydreams make her easy prey for manipulation. Her brother's friend Jalal exploits her naïve longing for a wealthy suitor, wooing her with sweet words and false promises of marriage before abandoning her callously once he has taken what he wanted. Adrift and estranged from her family, Nadia encounters a poor but honest young man who marries her out of compassion. The film is an unflinching cautionary tale about the dangers that face impressionable young women when fantasy collides with the predatory reality of those willing to exploit it.
