Antar Effendi is an Egyptian social drama centered on class prejudice and the bonds of friendship. Hanzel Pasha vehemently opposes the close friendship between his son Kamal and the humble Antar Effendi, convinced that Antar is a corrupting influence — yet the reality is entirely the opposite. Tensions mount when the Pasha attempts to force Kamal into a marriage with Gamalat, a woman whose heart belongs to Antar Effendi. Rather than submit, Kamal chooses to flee, setting off a chain of escalating events that expose the hollowness of social prejudice and the enduring power of genuine friendship.
